When a lob comes up short, the overhead is the finishing shot. Turn sideways, point at the ball with your free hand, and hit down and through it toward the opponent's feet or an open space.
On deep lobs, do not force it. Let the ball bounce or hit a controlled overhead that keeps you in the point.
Key cues
- 1Turn sideways early, paddle back
- 2Point at the ball with your non-paddle hand
- 3Contact in front, above your head
- 4Aim for the feet, not the baseline
Common mistakes
- Backpedaling instead of turning and shuffling
- Hitting too hard and missing
- Trying to smash deep lobs
