Fitting a court in a driveway or backyard

The court itself needs 20 × 44 feet, but you need room to run behind the baseline and beside the sidelines. A 30 × 60 foot space is the practical minimum; 34 × 64 is what tournaments use. A two-car driveway is usually about 20 × 40, which is enough for a slightly short court with a portable net and painted or taped lines.

On a tennis court

A tennis court is 78 × 36 feet plus run-off, so up to four pickleball courts fit with portable nets. The simplest conversion uses the tennis net lowered to 34 inches at center and temporary lines for a single pickleball court across the middle.
